Initially designed and written nearly 2 years ago as CFX_POP2, CFX_POP3 provides excellent POP3 mail server access to developers using Cold Fusion. The project was born out of necessity to develop an 'attribute compliant' replacement for CFPOP.

Since that time, CFX_POP3 has evolved into a fully featured POP3 client in a dll, providing simultaneous access to both the HTML and plain text versions of an e-mail where applicable, and extending the information that is returned in the queries to include such things as 'content-type' and the entire message source of the e-mail if required. CFX_POP3 now includes the capability to dynamically allocate columns in the queries it returns which extends the capabilities of CFX_POP3 beyond any other Cold Fusion POP3 mail extension.

Using the dynamic query building capabilities, CFX_POP3 allows you to parse an e-mail for any header that you wish, returning the information to you in a structured format ready to use within yours applications. If CFX_POP3 doesn't natively support the parsing of a particular header, you can specify it as a header to match on and CFX_POP3 will dynamically add the results to a dedicated column in its query. For every header you want to search for, a new column is added to the results. Simple.

With the introduction of filtration technologies, CFX_POP3 gives you more control than ever over the mails you choose to receive allowing you to 'delete' or 'save and delete' the message from the queue before you run your normal mail import routines. Simply build your own custom filters and pass them to CFX_POP3 in a query, CFX_POP3 will filter out the mails whilst also returning the same information that you get when you read in the headers of the mails in a standard import.

Along with being able to 'delete' or 'save and delete' CFX_POP3 also allows you to optionally bounce messages. CFX_POP3 uses its own built-in SMTP Client to create and send bounce messages. Plans for future releases include using this built in SMTP facility to have optional Delivery-Status-Notification replies automatically sent out from CFX_POP3 when using the GETALL function.

CFX_POP3 fully supports several character sets including utf-7 and modified utf-7 so if you currently use CFPOP with Cold Fusion MX, you can avoid the underlying Java bug that produces the all too familiar 'java.io.UnsupportedEncodingException: utf-7' error!!

CFX_POP3 provides logging capabilities to give you maximum visibility of the processes happening within CFX_POP3 revealing its thread-safe nature, whilst also logging exceptions that the tag encounters such as incorrect username/password combinations, connectivity issues and malformed queries being passed to the tag.

CFX_POP3 also goes beyond the straightforward POP3 mail server access, offering the ability to read and parse locally held '*.eml' files. Simply point the tag at a mail file and let CFX_POP3 do the rest. The query results returned are almost identical to those that are returned when querying a POP3 mail server, with only the UID of a mail not being returned.

NB: This tag is no longer freeware. Due to its popularity, the demands on our time for support have exceeded the level that we can reasonably give for a freeware application.

As such, the payment is nominal and a one-off and you will be able to access FREE updates to any of the tags you have previously purchased by logging in with the e-mail address that you provide when you purchase the tag.
